Artist's Statement:
In Just a Little Change: Humility, as their story unfolds, imagine Belle gently places Beast's hand at her waist, inviting him to trust both the dance and the uncertain future before them. Though hesitant and unsure of what lies ahead, Beast is filled with cautious hope. As the two release their pride, fears, and expectations in pursuit of something deeper and more enduring, they begin to see one another as they truly are—not through outward appearances, but through the qualities of the heart. It is this embrace of humility that ultimately breaks the bonds that have held them captive, bringing freedom not only to Belle and Beast but also to those who have faithfully supported them along the way.
Like its companion painting, this piece contains a collection of carefully hidden treasures for observant viewers to discover. Flanking the ballroom doorway are sculptural tributes to Sisu from Raya and the Last Dragon, nestled within the alcoves on either side. Above them, among the cherubs decorating the curved walls, appears Shorty from Tangled, joyfully living out his dream of becoming Cupid. Look closely, and you'll notice he casts a shadow—and his arrow is aimed directly at Beast.
The paintings hanging above the alcoves pay homage to the celebrated eighteenth-century French artist Hubert Robert, whose architectural fantasies inspired generations of artists. Just above Belle, a trio of twinkling stars shines through the window, suggesting that Mickey may be offering a playful wink from another time and place. Finally, hidden within the folds of Belle's golden gown is a medallion pin encircled with pearls and set with one of the cursed Aztec coins from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. How it found its way there remains a mystery for viewers to imagine.

There's a reason Disney's movies resonate with so many—the stories are rich with character, inspiration, and so much more. The talented artists behind our Disney Art Collection have recreated those everlasting stories in each painting for us to enjoy and treasure for years to come.
