This hand-rendered background was then reproduced on a beautiful, uncoated, archival paper stock, using the lithography process. The cel began with a master inking (from the animation) which was then silk-screened onto an acetate sheet (or “cel”) along with the Warner Bros. Animation Art seal. Each cel was then expertly hand-painted on the reverse side.

This very special limited-edition animation cel represents the first time that Warner Bros.’ Masters of Animation can be seen grouped, surrounded by the characters that they made famous. The Masters represented are directors Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, Friz Freleng, Chuck Jones, and Bob McKimson. Also included are the inimitably talented Mel Blanc, the unparalleled voice artist, and Carl Stalling, whose musical direction was instrumental in the making of the Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoons.

The art was originally conceptualized and designed by Ruth Clampett, Director of Creative Design for Warner Bros. Worldwide Retail, as a mural for the Flagship Studio Store in Manhattan. The image began with a painstakingly rendered background, assembling images of these historical figures as they appeared in the “Golden Age” of Warner Bros. animation.
