Wonderland seems impossibly mind-bending and complex yet extraordinarily beautiful in all its colorful mysteries. Artist Jared Franco's new masterpiece shares these qualities with the topsy-turvy place that inspired it.  

A celebratory homage to Walt Disney's 1951 animated classic "Alice in Wonderland," Franco's wildly ambitious oil painting takes on almost mural-like proportions to contain the vast amount of detail that visually traverses nearly every story beat in the animated film. The original painting measures 3 feet high and a staggering 7 feet wide!

This epic painting came to life over several months. Before a single drop of paint touched the canvas, this intricate layout and design had to be carefully developed through a series of concepts and pencil illustrations.  Once the painting began, every 3,024 square inches of canvas was hand-painted in magnificent detail, one brushstroke at a time.  

There’s a reason Disney’s movies resonate with so many—the stories are rich with character, inspiration, and so much more. The talented artists behind our Disney Art Collection have recreated those everlasting stories in each painting for us to enjoy and treasure for years to come.
