THE ART OF AKIRANT - ALBERTO QUIRANTES

Born in Madrid in 1970, Alberto Quirantes—better known as Akirant—has been passionate about sci-fi illustration from an early age. Self-taught in airbrush painting during the mid-'80s, he later graduated in graphic design, which marked the beginning of a diverse artistic career. After working as a newspaper illustrator for four years, Akirant spent over two decades as an art director at top advertising agencies like Saatchi & Saatchi and J. Walter Thompson.

Despite his success in advertising, Akirant never lost sight of his true passion for illustration. Eventually, he returned to his roots, creating artwork for various publications and contributing matte paintings to post-production studios. This led to his collaboration with Acme Archives as a licensed Lucasfilm artist. This role allowed him to blend his love of natural landscapes with the legendary *Star Wars* universe.

Akirant's *Star Wars* art collection showcases his ability to capture the expansive and imaginative world of the saga. His work is deeply influenced by iconic artists such as Melvyn Grant, Syd Mead, Frank Frazetta, Moebius, and Derek Riggs, merging bold sci-fi imagery with striking natural elements. The artwork reflects his unique interpretation of the *Star Wars* galaxy, making his art beloved by fans and collectors alike.
