Bret Iwan - Disney Art Collection
Bret Iwan has always been captivated by the legacy of Disney, though he never imagined he would one day voice its most iconic character, Mickey Mouse. Sometimes, life leads to amazing, unexpected opportunities.
After graduating high school in 2000, Bret pursued his passion for art, aspiring to become an animator or a Disney Imagineer. In 2004, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ringling College of Art and Design and began his career at Hallmark Greeting Cards in Kansas City.
In 2009, just before his fifth anniversary at Hallmark, Bret received an unexpected opportunity. A college friend and Pixar animator informed him of open phone auditions for the understudy role of voice Mickey Mouse. After several auditions, Bret was offered the dream role as Mickey's fourth official voice, first brought to life by Walt Disney.
Bret relocated to Los Angeles in September 2009, with his first recording being for Animal Kingdom's Adventurers Celebration in June of that year. Around the same time, he was introduced to Collectors Editions and Disney Fine Art by fellow Ringling graduate and Disney artist Tim Rogerson. This connection allowed Bret to merge his artistic talent with his newfound role, creating several portraits of Mickey Mouse for the Disney Fine Art program.
Bret's journey has taken him to places he never imagined, and he continues to enjoy collaborating with Disney Fine Art and voicing Mickey, the world's most beloved animated character.
