"A Romantic Luminist: A Family Affair"—Born in the Philippines in 1966, Walfrido, the son of renowned artist Edgardo F. Garcia, inherited his passion for art from his father. Edgardo left the Philippines in search of a better life, eventually reuniting with his family in Victorville, California. In 1973, they moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, pursuing the "American Dream."

Watching his father teach and paint inspired Walfrido to follow in his footsteps. By the age of 14, he began learning the techniques of the Old Masters directly from his father. His passion for painting grew in tandem with his love for surfing. By the age of 17, Walfrido was already teaching art classes, exhibiting in Carmel Galleries, and studying art full-time at Ohlone Junior College in Fremont, California.

In 1987, during a vacation in Hawaii, Walfrido secured representation with the Livingston Art Gallery on Oahu, which launched his international career. He continued to paint, teach, and study art at San Jose State University. At 23, he became the youngest artist to showcase his work at Wyland Galleries Hawaii, earning widespread recognition. His art now adorns galleries and the homes of collectors across the U.S. and abroad.

Walfrido's distinctive style, known as "Romantic Luminism," goes beyond mere photorealism, capturing a sense of timeless beauty in nature. His paintings begin with a loose impressionistic foundation, gradually building layers of detail and light. Up close, viewers can see the rhythm of his brushstrokes, while from a distance, the elements blend into a harmonious tapestry of light, color, and texture. Whether painting romantic moonlit scenes, brilliant sunsets, or his signature "Lavascapes," Walfrido's work radiates with the inner light of nature, bringing each canvas to life.
