DISNEY - THE ART OF PETER AND HARRISON ELLENSHAW
The Collaborative Art of Peter and Harrison Ellenshaw - Harrison Ellenshaw, a distinguished visual effects designer and filmmaker, has contributed his talents to legendary films such as *Star Wars*, *Tron*, *The Empire Strikes Back*, *Captain EO*, *Dick Tracy*, and many others. In addition to his cinematic achievements, Harrison has also established a successful career as a fine artist, with solo exhibitions of his paintings in London, New York, and San Francisco.
His father, Peter Ellenshaw, is a renowned artist and filmmaker celebrated for his visionary matte paintings. Peter received five Academy Award nominations, winning the Oscar® for his breathtaking depiction of Edwardian London in Disney's *Mary Poppins*. His dramatic and evocative works have been showcased worldwide in public and private collections. He has been honored with retrospectives by prestigious institutions, including the American Film Institute, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. As a testament to his legacy, Peter was bestowed the esteemed title of "Disney Legend."
The father-and-son duo reunited creatively for the first time since working together on Disney's *The Black Hole* (1979) to produce the piece titled *We Can Fly*. This work, the first in a series of collaborative efforts, commemorated the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney's *Peter Pan*. Their second collaboration, *20,000 Leagues Under the Sea*, holds special significance for Harrison, who recalls, "It was my introduction to Hollywood and Disney's epic style of movie-making. It was an exciting time."
Together, Peter and Harrison Ellenshaw blend their extraordinary talents, their shared passion for storytelling, and their artistic vision to create a legacy that celebrates the magic and imagination of Disney's timeless tales.
